Introducing Campaigns, the latest ShopMessage tool that allows you to send broadcast messages in Facebook messenger.
What kinds of campaigns can I send? Are campaigns compliant with Facebook's guidelines?
To fully understand what Facebook allows in terms of subscription messaging, please read Facebook's Subscription Messaging (BETA) Guidelines.
Please note that subscription messages cannot contain promotional content. However, after a user has responded to your campaign message you are allowed to send them a promotional message. This is commonly referred to as the '24 + 1 policy', you can read more about that here.
Take care to follow Facebook's guidelines to ensure that there are no restrictions placed on your page. When sending a campaign, keep in mind that Facebook measures block or spam rates to determine if your Page's negative feedback exceeds a certain threshold. This typically happens when users do not expect to get a message.
What kind of campaign should I send?
The most successful campaign use cases offer personal, conversational and interactive content that give your users a simple way to respond. Once a user has responded you have the opportunity to send them a promotion.
Here are some examples:
Offer a giveaway:
Update your users on new products and company news:
Offer interactive content or ask for user feedback:
How should I select an audience?
To avoid negative feedback from your users, send messages to users who both want to and expect to receive messages. You can craft opt in messaging to ask your users to express interest in receiving your campaign messages. This will help you to build a Subscriber audience that consists of users that explicitly told you that they would like to receive messages.
The two most successful use cases that we have seen are:
- Converting recipients to subscribers with an incentivized message like a giveaway.
- Reaching those subscribers or users with high purchase intent to let them know about an upcoming promotion or company news.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the campaign feature still in beta testing?
While our campaign feature is fully functioning (and successful!), we're inviting some of our trusted customers to help us shape the tool for broader use-cases.
Have feedback? Wish you had another feature? Is something not working properly - please let us know by email us at [email protected].
When should I send a message?
If you're new to campaigns, we suggest testing your initial messages around what works for your email campaigns. You can send messages immediately or schedule them for a later date.
I sent my campaign, why aren't there any results in my dashboard?
Being that the campaigns feature is in beta, it may take some time for your dashboard to display your campaign metrics. Please allow up to 24 hours to see results.
Please note that users may continue to open messages after you have sent the message, which means your results will continue to update.
Can I create a custom audience?
The ShopMessage team can create custom audience segments for you. Some examples of custom audiences are purchasers within the last 30 days, purchasers between x date and y date, users who have received an abandoned cart message within the last 60 days.
Have another audience in mind? Reach out and we'll let you know if we can create it!
